June 14th I was lost somewhere in a vast expanse of darkness. Then I saw the light. His light. He pulled me out of the water, out of the endless pool of hopelessness. It was like a breath of life after I thought I had died. It changed everything. I remember the exhilaration walking by the river in the moonlight as our hands touched. I remember the uncontrollable urge to push him against the car when we said goodbye. I remember the touch of his skin the first time we stayed together. Every look, every glance, every smile was like a drink of cool water in the endless desert of misery. Every touch, another rush of adrenaline. Even now, that thought sends chills down my spine and I can't control myself. I want to tell him everything but I can't. I can't change anything now. There is no escape from here. July 10th In the darkness of the night, I think. I always think. I thought. I think. I will think. It's always been. It will always be. But it's fine. I like the night.

My name is Rémi Romans, and this is my story. A dense sea of green surrounded us as we darted down the narrow path. The thick trees formed what appeared to be a solid wall to my tired eyes. It climbed as high as I could see, obscuring the night sky. Their thick branches constantly barraged my face, my cheeks already stinging from the cold. Even with the wind I could feel the blood running down my face. It was difficult for my horse, Ramiel, to run in the dark, moonless forest. The moons had disappeared, and the light of the celestial clouds could not penetrate the dense forest canopy. Behind us the agitated cries of the White Guard grew louder as they came upon us. My breathing became more and more panicked as it quickly dawned on me that there would be no escaping this situation. We would surely be brought back to the White City and interrogated, tortured even, if not executed immediately. The narrow trail gave way to a large clearing and a ring of fire surrounded us.
